Bay Microsystems To Demonstrate "The Network Is The Experience" With a 10G Convergence of Voice, Video and Data at SUPERCOMM 2005

Bay, Marconi, Naval Research Laboratories and Network Equipment Technologies, Inc. team to deliver high-quality triple play network user experiences

Santa Clara, CA, June 1, 2005 - Bay Microsystems, the leader in high performance network processing solutions, will be demonstrating a converged broadband network in its booth (#61082) at SUPERCOMM 2005 in Chicago, June 7-9, 2005. Along with Bay, Marconi, Naval Research Laboratories, and Network Equipment Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: NWK) will show products and solutions that are operating in Federal networks today. These carrier-class solutions deliver the range of robust network user experiences required for service providers to successfully launch their triple play services.

HDTV video streaming, video teleconferencing and high speed data networking will be aggregated over a 10 Gigabit fiber transport and distributed to multiple endpoint terminals. The mediation, aggregation, switching and bandwidth management of the multi-rate, multi-protocol streams will be handled by Bay Microsystems' Internetworking Processor family members Montego and Biscayne, both of which are in production today. Multi-protocol access and interworking at both edges of the network are performed by the SCREAM100 Broadband Services platform from net.com. ViPR video conferencing terminals and high definition video content are provided by Marconi Corporation, plc and the Naval Research Laboratories respectively.

"We're enabling the world's most demanding broadband networks today for our federal market customers," said Chuck Gershman, president and CEO of Bay Microsystems. "Our goal at SUPERCOMM is to show that using proven and available technology, OEMs can rapidly augment their existing platforms to enable service providers to deliver higher value services and profitability."
