Overview
- Bay Microsystems' products have been embraced and adopted by numerous Government/Private Network customers for mission-critical secure broadband networks because of the high-performance connectivity options, ease of deployment, and any-to-any protocol internetworking.
- Can be deployed in nearly any core network including IP/MPLS, Ethernet, ATM, and SONET.
Private Network Evolution
Private network infrastructure upgrades are typically driven by the need to improve network efficiency by moving to the latest networking technologies. While these network upgrades generally result in a number of cost saving benefits, they don't always take into account the need to maintain interoperability between existing disparate networks found in remote data centers. The ability to upgrade to newer technologies while still maintaining investiment protection with efficient access to remote information from geographically isolated data centers can be very difficult. The ABEx family has been purpose-built for this application and can be deployed as a gateway between large data centers (Storage Networks, Compute Clusters) via ATM/Ethernet/IP transport networks. The systems support fully non-blocking line rate performance and allow hard QoS for a wide array of applications.Network Transport Adaptation and Pseudowire Services
The ABEx product family has been designed to deliver a rich suite of highly scalable multi-protocol network adaptation capabilities. These advanced features enable the ABEx to reliably adapt disparate networks to nearly any core network including IP/MPLS, Ethernet, ATM, and SONET.ABEx appliances support a broad range of ATM networking services at OC-48/192 date rates including bridging native Ethernet and InfiniBand over ATM, and IETF-standard pseudowire emulation edge to edge (PWE3), which provides a mechanism that emulates the essential attributes of ATM over IP/MPLS core networks. This allows ATM edge and core networks to be seamlessly bridged to many common network technologies including IP/MPLS and Ethernet.
In addition, the ABEx family provides IETF-standard Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol version 3 (L2TPv3) enabling Ethernet and InfiniBand networks to be tunneled over regular packet-oriented IP networks. By using L2TPv3 pseudowire technology, customer edge networks can be transparently extended between data centers over wide area networks while still preserving local QoS policies. ABExÕs robust feature set even allows for flexible L2TPv3 connectivity options including ABEx to ABEx as well as ABEx to industry standard networking equipment configurations.
A True Converged Solution
ABEx is designed from the ground up to provide the network mediation and interworking necessary for successful delivery of converged applications across legacy and leading-edge networks.
