ADM-on-a-Chip™:
  • Ultra high performance – 40G and 160G
  • Highly integrated SONET/SDH framing, grooming and cross-connect
  • High speed line side framers
  • Multi-rate tributary side framers
  • Low power
Bay's ADM-on-a-Chip™ integrates all the functions required to build next generation SONET/SDH transport systems onto a single chip. The ADM-on-a-Chip integrates a digital cross connect, two line framers and eight rate programmable framers along with pointer processing, overhead processing, signaling and timing.

In addition to fully compliant traditional SONET/SDH ADM, extra built-in flexibility enable next generation SONET/SDH features such as virtual rings, multi-ring termination, SONET MESH and service based protection schemes.

The combination of standards support and new generation features allows systems to be deployed in a legacy environment and then upgraded to enable next generation features with only a software change.

Two versions of the ADM-on-a-Chip are currently available:
  • 8040 - 40G OC192/STM64 ADM-on-a-Chip
  • 8160 - 160G OC768/STM256 ADM-on-a-Chip

Applications:

The ADM-on-a-Chip is used in high density, low power, and low cost blades of existing systems such as ADM, DCS or DWDM. It is also used in new designs of next generation transport systems.
